Harbour City Wrestling Club hold intra-club wrestling tournaments every quarter. Spectators will be treated to a 15 minute warm-up display followed by a number of wrestling matches consisting of two rounds of two minutes per match. Wrestlers of all levels participate: from beginners to the more experienced.
Tournaments give wrestlers a chance to showcase skills learnt during weekly training, and a chance for the club to showcase wrestling to the wider community. If you are interested in participating in wrestling as a sport, or just enjoy watching from the side lines, then our tournaments are the best way to see the dynamic nature of wrestling. When training we typically wrestle at 50-80 per cent effort to facilitate learning of new moves and technique. Tournaments are a different story with wrestlers given the opportunity to wrestle at 100 per cent effort. Apart from actually wrestling, mat-side is truly the best way to experience the sport, so come and join us at Boxing Works Gym, 83-97 Darlinghurst Rd Kings Cross , NSW between 6:30PM-8:00PM and cheer on the guys.
No beginner workshop is scheduled at this time, but beginners are welcome at every Friday training and will be introduced to the basics by an experienced wrestler as well as taking part in the class. We always have a few novices in the class so you wont be the only one!
Next Beginners workshop: March (usually 2 weeks after Mardi Gras Weekend)
Time: to be advised
Place: Boxing Works Gym, 83-97 Darlinghurst Rd Kings Cross , NSW
Participants: $45 (include a free Sydney Silverbacks team shirt)
The club’s beginner workshop is held once a year during March (following our Fair-day and Mardi Gras presence). The beginner workshop is for first timers or those wanting a refresher course in wrestling basics in a beginner friendly environment. The workshop is then followed by a meet and greet with members of the club.
If you are a beginner wanting to start wrestling during the rest of the year, our Friday night training sessions are targeted to both beginner and experienced levels. If you have any questions regarding how to start wrestling contact us by email.
